Awesome People

Steven Beingana is 35 years old and married with 2 children. Steven was trained as a civil Engineer, and later became a community developer. He started community work in 2009 to try and address major issues that youth groups had, such as lack of safe water, poor services in schools and health centres. Today Steven runs Suubi Community Projects, and is singlehandedly changing the lives of many kids within the communities that he helps. He is inspired everyday by how much small things can make a huge impact. Steven is a truly an Awesome Person, and his involvement and efforts are anything but small, they are truly Awesome.

Susanne is a young, Medical Doctor, trained in tropical medicine and Global Health. As a medical doctor, she has worked as a volunteer in Bangladesh and Indonesia for the Female Cancer Foundation, in Greece at a Refugee camp for the Boat Refugee Foundation. This year she will volunteer for Australian Doctors International to go to Kiunga, Papua New Guinea to join local teams on health patrols in rural areas that can only be reached by boat or foot. By volunteering in low resource and remote settings, she hopes to bring healthcare to the people who need it most. Sanne understands how even one person can make a huge difference and that’s why she is part of the Awesome People we stand with.

Antonio Melendez is seventy years old and the father of two sons. Prior to his retirement Antonio was a police officer in Spain. At one point of his life, Antonio realized that it would be his mission to work for the benefit of others and to help in any way he could. Little by Little, Antonio set out to change the world, which started with a modest effort to help the hungry, joining a group called Los Angeles Malagueños de la Noche and transforming the association in what it is right now, it feeds over 1,000 people a day. Antonio, is part of our Awesome People, because he had the courage to believe he could change the world and that is truly Awesome.
